As expected Nokia has announced the Lumia 1520 smartphone at its Nokia World event in Abu Dhabi and has been priced at £594 with a release date of 25 November. The smartphone is first to be announced since Microsoft announced it was buying Nokia's phone business

Mobi news - Nokia Lumia 920 Will Be Released in November

Nokia is in the headlines as the company unveiled its latest flagship smartphone – Lumia 920 alongside Lumia 820 at the Nokia World 2012 event in New York City.

At the time of unveiling, Nokia remained right lipped about the release date and pricing details of the handset. However, now it seems like the second generation Lumia smartphone based on Windows Phone 8 has got a pricing and tentative release date.

According to a recent Reuters report, Lumia 920 will hit the retail shelves in Europe in the second week of November and it will be priced similar to the Samsung Galaxy S3, which retails at 580 euros (approx. Rs 41,000).

While a TheVerge report suggests that the handset will be available in US starting from November 2, 2012. According to the report, several sources have confirmed that Nokia is working with Microsoft and AT&T to release the Lumia 920 in US.

At the same time, a recent report from Winfuture.de, a German website claims that the handset will be released in the country in mid-October for a price tag of 600 Euro (approx. Rs 42,000). Future Zone, an Austrian art magazine has reported that Nokia is looking forward to deliver the Lumia 920 from the middle of October in Germany as it wants to release the smartphone in some countries before launching it in all the markets.

However, there is no information regarding the Lumia 820 smartphone, which was also unveiled at the same time.

On the specifications front, Lumia 920 packs a 4.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels along with PureMotion HD and ClearBlack display technologies. The handset is equipped with an 8.7MP rear camera with PureView branding, 1.2MP front camera, 1.5GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 32GB internal memory, NFC connectivity and 2,000 mAh Li-ion battery.

Nokia Lumia 920

Nokia Lumia 920 is one of a pair of Windows 8 smartphones from Nokia, and will probably be among the very first Windows 8 handsets to market.

Nokia scored a moderate success with the Lumia 900 running Windows Phone 7.5, but the new Lumia 920 is a much improved device all around and Nokia must be hoping for greater success.

One thing that you might immediately notice is that the 920 uses a similar design styling to the Lumia 900, Lumia 800 and the N9 with quite square corners that make it look distinctive. Nokia have also added a couple of new colours, yellow and red, to make the handset stand out even more. The display (more of which later) is a subtly curved panel as seen on earlier Lumia handsets, and there are some ceramic elements for strength and durability. Overall it makes it one of the best looking smartphones on the market in our opinion.The Lumia 920 uses some of Nokia's PureView imaging technology and Carl Zeiss optics, however if you were expecting the awesome 41 megapixel sensor from the Nokia 808 PureView then you will be disappointed. However, the 8.7 megapixel unit in the Lumia 920 has several tricks of its own.. one of the biggest ones is that Nokia have managed to float the camera assembly on springs to help to counteract vibration. This means that the 920 can take smoother videos, and it also means that the phone can take longer exposures leading to clearer photographs.

Nokia Lumia 610

The most affordable Windows smartphone from Nokia yet, the Nokia Lumia 610 takes advantage of the latest "Tango" release of Windows Phone 7.5, aimed at making Windows available on more modest smartphones.

Priced at just €189 before tax and subsidy, the Lumia 610 is a fair bit cheaper than the Lumia 710 and an awful lot less than Nokia Lumia 800. But then, the hardware is a lot less powerful too, the Lumia 610 only has an 800 MHz processor, 256MB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, plus a mid-sized 3.7" 480 x 800 pixel TFT display.

On the back is a 5 megapixel camera capable of VGA resolution video capture, and on the front.. is no camera at all, because Windows doesn't yet support it. All the usual smartphone features are here including GPS, 3.5G and WiFi support, Bluetooth, a multimedia player, a web browser plus some pocket versions of Microsoft Office. One key selling feature with the Nokia Lumia range is Nokia's own mapping application, included as well on the Nokia Lumia 610.

The Lumia 610 measures 119 x 62 x 12mm and weighs 132 grams. The 1300 mAh battery is quoted as giving up to 9.5 hours talk time and 30 days standby time on 3G, which is pretty impressive if accurate.
