Optimize Your Photos for Facebook Timeline
optimizing your photos prior to posting them on Facebook
can give a more pleasing result than non-optimized photos. There are a
few simple steps that can be followed to achieve more sharpness and
detail than non-optimized photos on Facebook, which now supports viewing
images which are 960 pixels wide to its full extend. Step 1- Open
the image to be uploaded, in Adobe Photoshop latest version and resize
the photo to make the longest side 960 pixels wide. ‘Bicubic Sharper’
option can be used to re sample the image in order to get the best
possible sharpness for your image while resizing it.Step 2-If
needed, the photo can be subjected to further sharpening by using a
filter option- ‘Unsharp Mask’. If there are various layers to the image,
the image has to be flattened. Creating a new top layer
(Shift+Alt+E+Cmd) with the flattened image also works well. The setting
of the filter with Radius 0.2 and Threshold at 0 level works perfectly.Step 3-This
optimized image has to be saved next, preferably in such a way to get
maximum quality with small file size. Saving under ‘Save-For-Web’
(Alt+Ctrl+Shift+S) is a good option which makes it ideal for online
viewing by saving it at 72dpi. It is recommended to set 100% for jpeg
setting and 100 for ‘Quality’ as opposed to ’60-80’ recommended by
Photoshop, since 100 gives a better image than ’60-80’ when posted, due
to Facebook downgrading your images.

How to Sync Contacts in Android
With the changing times the options of selecting phones and service
providers has grown far beyond expectations. You can change phones and
service providers as fast as you want to. But with these changes have
posed the challenge of retaining one’s contacts and regularly updating
them without much of a hassle especially with the Android devices.
Android phones certainly offer a new level of effectiveness and
integration because of the two-way syncing of contacts in real-time from
the computer to phone and vice–versa. This article tries to put in place
a few important tips that we need to bear in mind while syncing
contacts of Android phones.
Setting up a Google Account:
Users
getting started with the Android phone users are prompted to set a
Google account. Though many users, for lack of knowledge, take this to
be an unnecessary exercise, but you must believe it this is the best
option when compared to using the highly priced syncing software’s
available in the market. Once you have created a Google account using
the Android phone becomes much easier and the experience becomes more
refreshing rather than frustrating.
Contact Synchronization:
Contacts can be exported and imported with the help of existing software in a Coma Separated values (CSV) file format.

Tips-How to prevent phone and tablet theft
if you're under the age of 25, there's almost an even chance you have
lost your cell phone or had it stolen at least once. According to a Pew
Research Center survey conducted last April, 45 percent of cell phone
users between the ages of 18 and 24 have had a phone lost or stolen.
The survey also found that 3 out of 10 cell phone users between the
ages of 35 and 54 have misplaced their device or had it stolen, as
Kashmir Hill reports on Forbes.com.
There's nothing new about cell phones being popular targets for
thieves, but today's smartphone is a full-fledged computer that stores
all kinds of sensitive personal data: passwords, contacts, documents,
Internet history, and more.
One reason smartphones are so popular with thieves is how easy it has
been to reprogram and resell the devices. Verizon, Sprint, and (more
recently) AT&T make it more difficult to resell a phone that someone
has reported to the carriers as stolen. T-Mobile is expected to provide
a similar service soon.
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission made news last spring by
announcing joint initiatives with carriers and law enforcement to create a centralized database of lost and stolen cell phones. The database promises to serve as a deterrent to cell phone thefts, but it is still many months away.
Lower your phone's profile in public-
A young woman I know has had three iPhones stolen in the last three months. In each case she was using the phone while waiting for the bus to or from school. She now waits until she's on the bus before taking the phone out of her bag.

Students should know their electronic devices are at risk when
they're using them in a library, at a coffee shop or restaurant, or
while in transit on public transportation, particularly when boarding or
leaving a bus, streetcar, or train.

How to use Gmail Canned Responses on Android
Good tips When you're traveling, there may not
always be time to write a response to those who contact you. It's easy
to forget what you need to do with an e-mail you've already read sitting
in your inbox. Maybe a family member sent you something they want
feedback on, or maybe a business client needs a question answered. In
either case, you want to let the person on the other end of the e-mail
know what's going on with you and when you'll be able to devote time to
their requests. You may recall a Gmail Labs feature called Canned Responses that
lets you set up prewritten responses to your e-mail this app is the
mobile counterpart to it. After all, you're more likely to be away from
your computer when you actually need these canned responses. Here's how
to get started with the
Android version: Step 1: Install a copy of Gmail Canned Responses on your Android device.Step 2: Sign-in to your Gmail account so the application can access your saved canned responses in your account.Step 3: Open the app and then tap on the response you want to use. The response will be copied to your Android clipboard. Now all you need to do is press and hold in the response area of your Gmail message to paste the canned response. One drawback to this app is that it stays in your notification shade
while you're signed in to access the responses. There doesn't seem to be
a setting to turn this off (yet), but in the meantime it's a good
option for fast and nicely formatted responses while you're mobile.that's it....

Windows Vista
1. Go to Start menu → Control Panel → Network Center (Vista)

Windows XP
1. Go to Start menu → Control Panel → Network Connections (XP)
2. The shared resources will be available under My Network Places window.
T
o access a folder, open it by double clicking. The folder will open just like how one on your hard drive does. If the folder is password protected, you will have to type in the password to access it. Remember that you cannot modify, rename or delete the files or folder if they are read only.

Mobile Phone Safety Tips
- Keep your phone with you at all times. If you are worried about someone taking it at school or if you are out, leave it at home.
- Only give your mobile number to your friends and people that you trust.
- Don't lend your phone to someone you don't know or trust, or put it in a place where other people could get hold of it.
- Most phones allow you to lock your phone with a PIN code. If you don't have the code you can't unlock it, so if anyone steals your phone they won't be able to use it.
- If someone is pressuring you into giving them your number, tell someone about it such as a teacher or a parent.
- If you have Bluetooth on your phone, keep this switched off when you are not using it.

How to increase your phone's battery life?
Keep the battery healthy by fully charging and then fully
discharging it at least once every two to three weeks.
Exceptions to the rule are Li-Ion batteries, which do not
suffer from the memory effect. Do not leave the battery
dormant for long periods of time.
Keep the Batteries Clean - It's a good idea to clean dirty battery
contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. This helps maintain a
good connection between the battery and the portable device.
Always use a battery charger, which is by the same manufacturer as
your phone, it gives it more life. It also helps if you
overcharge your battery now and then.
Don't leave your cell phone near any source of heat, a common place
being the dashboard of your car, as extreme heat may affect the
battery. The battery also operates better at room
temperature,means nomal temparatur.

Protect your phone's bluetooth connection
If your phone is not set to 'hidden', chances are you're open to bluejacking, bluesnarfing or bluebugging.
What does this mean? Read This artical.
Bluejacking - The sending of unwanted messages from one bluetooth device to another. While bluejacking is normally harmless, often people who receive these types of messages don't know what has happened, and may think that someone has taken over their phone.
Bluesnarfing - the unauthorised access of information from a wireless device (such as a mobile phone) through a bluetooth connection. By 'hacking' into the phone, someone can have access to the calendar, pictures, contacts, text messages, and any other content stored on the phone.
Bluebugging - another form of bluetooth attack, in which someone takes control of your phone, to call their phone. This means that someone can simply listen to any conversation their victim is having in real life. Further development of bluebugging tools has allowed users to totally take over their victim's phone, making calls and sending text messages from the victim's phone.
By turning off bluetooth when you're not using it, or by setting your phone's bluetooth settings to 'hidden', you can remove the risk of these Threats.
