Google
has announced a new feature that will give users the ability to enable
SMS notifications in Google+ from their feature phones even if the phone
is not internet-enabled.
The
company has also announced that users will be able to post updates and
share photos of their favorite ones by simply logging in to
plus.google.com from mobile browsers. This will bring in to effect
real-time sharing capability for its users. These sharing features will
be available across all internet supported phones.
Jagjit
Chawla, Google Product Manager was stated as saying, “Mobile sharing
should be easy, and being away from your computer shouldn’t stop you
from sharing the exciting moments in life.” He added, “With Google+, you
don’t need to rely on wires or cords to share your photos – you can
quickly share life as it happens.”
Enabling SMS Notifications on Google+ :-
The
major attraction of the announcement is that Google+ is now providing
an SMS system for users who are using feature phones that are not Wi-Fi
or internet enabled. Users need to have SMS notifications enabled in the
Google+ service to facilitate this feature.
The steps for enabling SMS notifications to mobile phones in Google+ are as follows;
-
Navigate to the ‘Settings’ page by tapping the gear icon inside Google+ mobile website
-
Then users will have to check their phone number
-
Finally select the ‘Notifications’ tab
Google+
has mentioned that the action bar on all pages will provide users with
the ability to post updates and also allow them to share photos.
These
latest updates are part of Google’s increasing efforts to improve the
popularity of their social networking site among mobile phone users as
the demand for social networking via mobile has increased by many folds.
